When processing a PREQ the code would always check whether we have a
mesh path locally and reply accordingly. However, when forwarding is
disabled then we should not reply with this information as we will not
forward data packets down that path.
Move the check for dot11MeshForwarding up in the function and skip the
mesh path lookup in that case. In the else block, set forward to false
so that the rest of the function becomes a no-op and the
dot11MeshForwarding check does not need to be duplicated.
This explains an effect observed in the Freifunk community where mesh
forwarding is disabled. In that case a mesh with three STAs and only bad
links in between them, individual STAs would occionally have indirect
mpath entries. This should not have happened.

Currently in case of target hardware restart, we just reconfig and
re-enable the security keys and enable the network queues to start
data traffic back from where it was interrupted.
Many ath10k wifi chipsets have sequence numbers for the data
packets assigned by firmware and the mac sequence number will
restart from zero after target hardware restart leading to mismatch
in the sequence number expected by the remote peer vs the sequence
number of the frame sent by the target firmware.
This mismatch in sequence number will cause out-of-order packets
on the remote peer and all the frames sent by the device are dropped
until we reach the sequence number which was sent before we restarted
the target hardware
In order to fix this, we trigger a sta disconnect, in case of target
hw restart. After this there will be a fresh connection and thereby
avoiding the dropping of frames by remote peer.
The right fix would be to pull the entire data path into the host
which is not feasible or would need lots of complex changes and
will still be inefficient.

When we reconfigure, the driver might do some things to complete
the reconfiguration. It's strange and could be broken in some
cases because we restart other works (e.g. remain-on-channel and
TX) before this happens, yet only start queues later.
Change this to do the reconfig complete when reconfiguration is
actually complete, not when we've already started doing other
things again.
For iwlwifi, this should fix a race where the reconfig can race
with TX, for ath10k and ath11k that also use this it won't make
a difference because they just start queues there, and mac80211
also stopped the queues and will restart them later as before.

commit bddc0c411a45d3718ac535a070f349be8eca8d48 upstream.
The commit cb17ed29a7a5 ("mac80211: parse radiotap header when selecting Tx
queue") moved the code to validate the radiotap header from
ieee80211_monitor_start_xmit to ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap. This made is
possible to share more code with the new Tx queue selection code for
injected frames. But at the same time, it now required the call of
ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap at the beginning of functions which wanted to
handle the radiotap header. And this broke the rate parser for radiotap
header parser.
The radiotap parser for rates is operating most of the time only on the
data in the actual radiotap header. But for the 802.11a/b/g rates, it must
also know the selected band from the chandef information. But this
information is only written to the ieee80211_tx_info at the end of the
ieee80211_monitor_start_xmit - long after ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap was
already called. The info->band information was therefore always 0
(NL80211_BAND_2GHZ) when the parser code tried to access it.
For a 5GHz only device, injecting a frame with 802.11a rates would cause a
NULL pointer dereference because local->hw.wiphy->bands[NL80211_BAND_2GHZ]
would most likely have been NULL when the radiotap parser searched for the
correct rate index of the driver.

When ieee80211_key_link() is called by ieee80211_gtk_rekey_add()
but returns 0 due to KRACK protection (identical key reinstall),
ieee80211_gtk_rekey_add() will still return a pointer into the
key, in a potential use-after-free. This normally doesn't happen
since it's only called by iwlwifi in case of WoWLAN rekey offload
which has its own KRACK protection, but still better to fix, do
that by returning an error code and converting that to success on
the cfg80211 boundary only, leaving the error for bad callers of

In a subsequent commit this will allow us to add a radiotap flag that
influences the queue on which injected packets will be sent.
This also fixes the incomplete validation of the injected frame in

This is because we set this bit depending on the nonpeer_pm variable of the mesh

As soon as links starts to be established, it wil switch to

As we want no power save by default, (as expressed with the per sta ini values),
lets init it to the expected default value of NL80211_MESH_POWER_ACTIVE.
Also please note that we cannot change the default value from userspace prior to
establishing a link as using NL80211_CMD_SET_MESH_CONFIG will not work before
NL80211_CMD_JOIN_MESH has been issued. So too late for our initial scan.

Lower layer device driver stop/wake TX by calling ieee80211_stop_queue()/
ieee80211_wake_queue() while hw scan. Sometimes hw scan and PTK rekey are
running in parallel, when M4 sent from wpa_supplicant arrive while the TX
queue is stopped, then the M4 will pending send, and then new key install
from wpa_supplicant. After TX queue wake up by lower layer device driver,
the M4 will be dropped by below call stack.
When key install started, the current key flag is set KEY_FLAG_TAINTED in
ieee80211_pairwise_rekey(), and then mac80211 wait key install complete by
lower layer device driver. Meanwhile ieee80211_tx_h_select_key() will return
TX_DROP for the M4 in step 12 below, and then ieee80211_free_txskb() called
by ieee80211_tx_dequeue(), so the M4 will not send and free, then the rekey
process failed becaue AP not receive M4. Please see details in steps below.
There are a interval between KEY_FLAG_TAINTED set for current key flag and
install key complete by lower layer device driver, the KEY_FLAG_TAINTED is
set in this interval, all packet including M4 will be dropped in this
interval, the interval is step 8~13 as below.
issue steps:
TX thread install key thread
1. stop_queue -idle-
2. sending M4 -idle-
3. M4 pending -idle-
4. -idle- starting install key from wpa_supplicant
5. -idle- =>ieee80211_key_replace()
6. -idle- =>ieee80211_pairwise_rekey() and set
currently key->flags |= KEY_FLAG_TAINTED
7. -idle- =>ieee80211_key_enable_hw_accel()
8. -idle- =>drv_set_key() and waiting key install
complete from lower layer device driver
9. wake_queue -waiting state-
10. re-sending M4 -waiting state-
11. =>ieee80211_tx_h_select_key() -waiting state-
12. drop M4 by KEY_FLAG_TAINTED -waiting state-
13. -idle- install key complete with success/fail
success: clear flag KEY_FLAG_TAINTED
fail: start disconnect
Hence add check in step 11 above to allow the EAPOL send out in the
interval. If lower layer device driver use the old key/cipher to encrypt
the M4, then AP received/decrypt M4 correctly, after M4 send out, lower
layer device driver install the new key/cipher to hardware and return
success.
If lower layer device driver use new key/cipher to send the M4, then AP
will/should drop the M4, then it is same result with this issue, AP will/
should kick out station as well as this issue.

commit 8b5cb7e41d9d77ffca036b0239177de123394a55 upstream.
Syzbot hit NULL deref in rhashtable_free_and_destroy(). The problem was
in mesh_paths and mpp_paths being NULL.
mesh_pathtbl_init() could fail in case of memory allocation failure, but
nobody cared, since ieee80211_mesh_init_sdata() returns void. It led to
leaving 2 pointers as NULL. Syzbot has found null deref on exit path,
but it could happen anywhere else, because code assumes these pointers are
valid.
Since all ieee80211_*_setup_sdata functions are void and do not fail,
let's embedd mesh_paths and mpp_paths into parent struct to avoid
adding error handling on higher levels and follow the pattern of others
setup_sdata functions

Commit ff05d4b45dd89b922578dac497dcabf57cf771c6 upstream.
This is a different version of the commit, changed to store
the non-transmitted profile in the elems, and freeing it in
the few places where it's relevant, since that is only the
case when the last argument for parsing (the non-tx BSSID)
is non-NULL.
When we parse a multi-BSSID element, we might point some
element pointers into the allocated nontransmitted_profile.
However, we free this before returning, causing UAF when the
relevant pointers in the parsed elements are accessed.
Fix this by not allocating the scratch buffer separately but
as part of the returned structure instead, that way, there
are no lifetime issues with it.
The scratch buffer introduction as part of the returned data
here is taken from MLO feature work done by Ilan.
This fixes CVE-2022-42719.

commit 8f033d2becc24aa6bfd2a5c104407963560caabc upstream.
Per spec, the maximum value for the MaxBSSID ('n') indicator is 8,
and the minimum is 1 since a multiple BSSID set with just one BSSID
doesn't make sense (the # of BSSIDs is limited by 2^n).
Limit this in the parsing in both cfg80211 and mac80211, rejecting
any elements with an invalid value.
This fixes potentially bad shifts in the processing of these inside
the cfg80211_gen_new_bssid() function later.

Currently MBSSID parameters in struct ieee80211_bss_conf
are not reset upon connection. This could be problematic
with some drivers in a scenario where the device first
connects to a non-transmit BSS and then connects to a
transmit BSS of a Multi BSS AP. The MBSSID parameters
which are set after connecting to a non-transmit BSS will
not be reset and the same parameters will be passed on to
the driver during the subsequent connection to a transmit
BSS of a Multi BSS AP.
For example, firmware running on the ath11k device uses the
Multi BSS data for tracking the beacon of a non-transmit BSS
and reports the driver when there is a beacon miss. If we do
not reset the MBSSID parameters during the subsequent
connection to a transmit BSS, then the driver would have
wrong MBSSID data and FW would be looking for an incorrect
BSSID in the MBSSID beacon of a Multi BSS AP and reports
beacon loss leading to an unstable connection.
Reset the MBSSID parameters upon every connection to solve this
problem.

While commit 6a01afcf8468 ("mac80211: mesh: Free ie data when leaving

potential memory corruption caused by a double free when rejoining the

ieee80211_leave_mesh()
-> kfree(sdata->u.mesh.ie);
...
ieee80211_join_mesh()
-> copy_mesh_setup()
-> old_ie = ifmsh->ie;
-> kfree(old_ie);
This double free / kernel panics can be reproduced by using wpa_supplicant
with an encrypted mesh (if set up without encryption via "iw" then
ifmsh->ie is always NULL, which avoids this issue). And then calling:
$ iw dev mesh0 mesh leave
$ iw dev mesh0 mesh join my-mesh
Note that typically these commands are not used / working when using
wpa_supplicant. And it seems that wpa_supplicant or wpa_cli are going
through a NETDEV_DOWN/NETDEV_UP cycle between a mesh leave and mesh join
where the NETDEV_UP resets the mesh.ie to NULL via a memcpy of
default_mesh_setup in cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call, which then avoids
the memory corruption, too.
The issue was first observed in an application which was not using
wpa_supplicant but "Senf" instead, which implements its own calls to
nl80211.
Fixing the issue by removing the kfree()'ing of the mesh IE in the mesh
join function and leaving it solely up to the mesh leave to free the
mesh IE.

If an MFP station isn't authorized, the receiver will (or
at least should) drop the action frame since it's a robust
management frame, but if we're not authorized we haven't
installed keys yet. Refuse attempts to start a session as
they'd just time out.

commit 859ae7018316daa4adbc496012dcbbb458d7e510 upstream.
There are two problems with the current code that have been highlighted
with the AQL feature that is now enbaled by default.
First problem is in ieee80211_rx_h_mesh_fwding(),
ieee80211_select_queue_80211() is used on received packets to choose
the sending AC queue of the forwarding packet although this function
should only be called on TX packet (it uses ieee80211_tx_info).
This ends with forwarded mesh packets been sent on unrelated random AC
queue. To fix that, AC queue can directly be infered from skb->priority
which has been extracted from QOS info (see ieee80211_parse_qos()).
Second problem is the value of queue_mapping set on forwarded mesh
frames via skb_set_queue_mapping() is not the AC of the packet but a
hardware queue index. This may or may not work depending on AC to HW
queue mapping which is driver specific.
Both of these issues lead to improper AC selection while forwarding
mesh packets but more importantly due to improper airtime accounting
(which is done on a per STA, per AC basis) caused traffic stall with
the introduction of AQL.

Some AP can possibly try non-standard VHT rate and mac80211 warns and drops
packets, and leads low TCP throughput.
Rate marked as a VHT rate but data is invalid: MCS: 10, NSS: 2
WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 7817 at net/mac80211/rx.c:4856 ieee80211_rx_list+0x223/0x2f0 [mac8021
Since commit c27aa56a72b8 ("cfg80211: add VHT rate entries for MCS-10 and MCS-11")
has added, mac80211 adds this support as well.
After this patch, throughput is good and iw can get the bitrate:
rx bitrate: 975.1 MBit/s VHT-MCS 10 80MHz short GI VHT-NSS 2
or
rx bitrate: 1083.3 MBit/s VHT-MCS 11 80MHz short GI VHT-NSS 2
