The current method of cat-ing register file dumps the entire address space. One can use dd command to dump a subrange within the address space. However one needs to know the string length of each line which is derived from max address, the character length of each register entry and the format. Provide simple means to dump a range by allowing user to specify the start address and the count of registers. When the data is read convert the dump address to a starting position in the file. Similarly if the file offset goes beyond the dump range return 0 to indicate that the data is already dumped. Also provide a means to write to a register address. Use CONFIG_REGMAP_QTI_DEBUG to enable this new fine-grained register read/write interface. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
