UPSTREAM: bpf: Use dedicated bpf_trace_printk event instead of trace_printk()
The bpf helper bpf_trace_printk() uses trace_printk() under the hood.
This leads to an alarming warning message originating from trace
buffer allocation which occurs the first time a program using
bpf_trace_printk() is loaded.

We can instead create a trace event for bpf_trace_printk() and enable
it in-kernel when/if we encounter a program using the
bpf_trace_printk() helper. With this approach, trace_printk()
is not used directly and no warning message appears.

This work was started by Steven (see Link) and finished by Alan; added
Steven's Signed-off-by with his permission.

UPSTREAM: lib/strncpy_from_user.c: Mask out bytes after NUL terminator.
do_strncpy_from_user() may copy some extra bytes after the NUL
terminator into the destination buffer. This usually does not matter for
normal string operations. However, when BPF programs key BPF maps with
strings, this matters a lot.

A BPF program may read strings from user memory by calling the
bpf_probe_read_user_str() helper which eventually calls
do_strncpy_from_user(). The program can then key a map with the
destination buffer. BPF map keys are fixed-width and string-agnostic,
meaning that map keys are treated as a set of bytes.

The issue is when do_strncpy_from_user() overcopies bytes after the NUL
terminator, it can result in seemingly identical strings occupying
multiple slots in a BPF map. This behavior is subtle and totally
unexpected by the user.

This commit masks out the bytes following the NUL while preserving
long-sized stride in the fast path.

BACKPORT: bpf: Add lockdown check for probe_write_user helper
commit 51e1bb9eeaf7868db56e58f47848e364ab4c4129 upstream.

Back then, commit 96ae522795 ("bpf: Add bpf_probe_write_user BPF helper
to be called in tracers") added the bpf_probe_write_user() helper in order
to allow to override user space memory. Its original goal was to have a
facility to "debug, divert, and manipulate execution of semi-cooperative
processes" under CAP_SYS_ADMIN. Write to kernel was explicitly disallowed
since it would otherwise tamper with its integrity.

One use case was shown in cf9b1199de ("samples/bpf: Add test/example of
using bpf_probe_write_user bpf helper") where the program DNATs traffic
at the time of connect(2) syscall, meaning, it rewrites the arguments to
a syscall while they're still in userspace, and before the syscall has a
chance to copy the argument into kernel space. These days we have better
mechanisms in BPF for achieving the same (e.g. for load-balancers), but
without having to write to userspace memory.

Of course the bpf_probe_write_user() helper can also be used to abuse
many other things for both good or bad purpose. Outside of BPF, there is
a similar mechanism for ptrace(2) such as PTRACE_PEEK{TEXT,DATA} and
PTRACE_POKE{TEXT,DATA}, but would likely require some more effort.
Commit 96ae522795 explicitly dedicated the helper for experimentation
purpose only. Thus, move the helper's availability behind a newly added
LOCKDOWN_BPF_WRITE_USER lockdown knob so that the helper is disabled under
the "integrity" mode. More fine-grained control can be implemented also
from LSM side with this change.

It's problem for all stable trees with bpf_d_path helper, which was
added in 5.9.

This issue is fixed in current bpf code, where we identify and mark
trusted pointers, so the above code would fail even to load.

For the sake of the stable trees and to workaround potentially broken
verifier in the future, adding the code that reads the path object from
the passed pointer and verifies it's valid in kernel space.

UPSTREAM: bpf: Remove config check to enable bpf support for branch records
[ Upstream commit db52f57211b4e45f0ebb274e2c877b211dc18591 ]

Branch data available to BPF programs can be very useful to get stack traces
out of userspace application.

Commit fff7b64355ea ("bpf: Add bpf_read_branch_records() helper") added BPF
support to capture branch records in x86. Enable this feature also for other
architectures as well by removing checks specific to x86.

If an architecture doesn't support branch records, bpf_read_branch_records()
still has appropriate checks and it will return an -EINVAL in that scenario.
Based on UAPI helper doc in include/uapi/linux/bpf.h, unsupported architectures
should return -ENOENT in such case. Hence, update the appropriate check to
return -ENOENT instead.

BACKPORT: net: sk_msg: Simplify sk_psock initialization
Initializing psock->sk_proto and other saved callbacks is only
done in sk_psock_update_proto, after sk_psock_init has returned.
The logic for this is difficult to follow, and needlessly complex.

Instead, initialize psock->sk_proto whenever we allocate a new
psock. Additionally, assert the following invariants:

* The SK has no ULP: ULP does it's own finagling of sk->sk_prot
* sk_user_data is unused: we need it to store sk_psock

Protect our access to sk_user_data with sk_callback_lock, which
is what other users like reuseport arrays, etc. do.

The result is that an sk_psock is always fully initialized, and
that psock->sk_proto is always the "original" struct proto.
The latter allows us to use psock->sk_proto when initializing
IPv6 TCP / UDP callbacks for sockmap.

UPSTREAM: bpf, sockmap: Allow skipping sk_skb parser program
Currently, we often run with a nop parser namely one that just does
this, 'return skb->len'. This happens when either our verdict program
can handle streaming data or it is only looking at socket data such
as IP addresses and other metadata associated with the flow. The second
case is common for a L3/L4 proxy for instance.

So lets allow loading programs without the parser then we can skip
the stream parser logic and avoid having to add a BPF program that
is effectively a nop.

proc: use kvzalloc for our kernel buffer
Since

sysctl: pass kernel pointers to ->proc_handler

we have been pre-allocating a buffer to copy the data from the proc
handlers into, and then copying that to userspace. The problem is this
just blindly kzalloc()'s the buffer size passed in from the read, which in
the case of our 'cat' binary was 64kib. Order-4 allocations are not
awesome, and since we can potentially allocate up to our maximum order, so
use kvzalloc for these buffers.

kernel/hung_task.c: make type annotations consistent
Commit 32927393dc1c ("sysctl: pass kernel pointers to ->proc_handler")
removed various __user annotations from function signatures as part of
its refactoring.

It also removed the __user annotation for proc_dohung_task_timeout_secs()
at its declaration in sched/sysctl.h, but not at its definition in
kernel/hung_task.c.

Hence, sparse complains:

kernel/hung_task.c:271:5: error: symbol 'proc_dohung_task_timeout_secs' redeclared with different type (incompatible argument 3 (different address spaces))

Adjust the annotation at the definition fitting to that refactoring to make
sparse happy again, which also resolves this warning from sparse:

kernel/hung_task.c:277:52: warning: incorrect type in argument 3 (different address spaces)
  kernel/hung_task.c:277:52: expected void *
kernel/hung_task.c:277:52: got void [noderef] __user *buffer

No functional change. No change in object code.

Let pick_file() report back that the fd it was passed exceeded the

past the last valid fd.

UPSTREAM: maccess: unexport probe_kernel_write()
Patch series "clean up and streamline probe_kernel_* and friends", v4.

This series start cleaning up the safe kernel and user memory probing
helpers in mm/maccess.c, and then allows architectures to implement the
kernel probing without overriding the address space limit and temporarily
allowing access to user memory. It then switches x86 over to this new
mechanism by reusing the unsafe_* uaccess logic.

This version also switches to the saner copy_{from,to}_kernel_nofault
naming suggested by Linus.

I kept the x86 helpers as-is without calling unsage_{get,put}_user as that
avoids a number of hard to trace casts, and it will still work with the
asm-goto based version easily.

probe_kernel_write() is not used by any modular code.

UPSTREAM: bpf: Use strncpy_from_unsafe_strict() in bpf_seq_printf() helper
In bpf_seq_printf() helper, when user specified a "%s" in the
format string, strncpy_from_unsafe() is used to read the actual string
to a buffer. The string could be a format string or a string in
the kernel data structure. It is really unlikely that the string
will reside in the user memory.

This is different from Commit b2a5212fb634 ("bpf: Restrict bpf_trace_printk()'s %s
usage and add %pks, %pus specifier") which still used
strncpy_from_unsafe() for "%s" to preserve the old behavior.

If in the future, bpf_seq_printf() indeed needs to read user
memory, we can implement "%pus" format string.

Based on discussion in [1], if the intent is to read kernel memory,
strncpy_from_unsafe_strict() should be used. So this patch
changed to use strncpy_from_unsafe_strict().
